Radar Museum

2 April 2009 opened the Radar Museum at Fusaro's plant, in Campania region, Italy. The Radar Museum is the first one in Europe to be created within a company and stems from the intention to recall, store and pass on memories of the manufacturing history of radar, which started in Italy around 60 years ago on the current Fusaro site. The museum illustrates, through images, documents and products, the key technological milestones achieved by both Italian and local Campanian industry essential for the design and production of radar. The museum, which also aims to become a reference point and venue for sector-related events, is a dynamic, constantly evolving project, which will be progressively updated with the display of next-generation products to mirror developments in Italian radar.
The Radar Museum covers an area of around 750 square metres, divided into four main sections: an exhibition space, which shows historical instruments and some of the most significant radar antennas developed and built by SELEX Sistemi Integrati over the years; a document archive with numerous historical
and modern books on radar and related technologies; a simulation room equipped with three consoles, each showing a different operating scenario such as land surveillance, naval surveillance and air traffic control; a conference area containing a fully-equipped meeting room that can seat 50 people.
Radar School

The birth of the SELEX Sistemi Integrati "Radar and Systems School" dates back to over 30 years ago; its goal was to disseminate and capitalise the culture, skills and radar experience developed within the company and not available elsewhere.
This initiative, chiefly targeting newly recruited personnel, is based on flexible and two-way teaching processes, meaning that everyone can be either teacher or student from time to time and in this way initiate a virtuous circle that creates a dense network of culture and knowledge exchanges. The Radar and Systems School offers a range of courses: a basic, 16-hour course in radar, attended by more than 600 people over the past years, and approximately 20 specialised or in-depth courses of four hours each, known as “advanced topics”, intended for smaller groups. Furthermore, 6-8 seminars are held annually, on specific subjects, chosen according to the company’s interest in new technologies and products.
The courses have recently been opened to customers, as well, for the purpose of disseminating the company’s skills and supporting industry professionals in choosing the most suitable product for their needs.
The Radar and Systems School is named after Flavio Alessandro Studer, an engineer who died in 2001, one of those most actively engaged in the dissemination of knowledge on radar within SELEX Sistemi Integrati.
