SELEX Sistemi Integrati pursues a strategy of technological innovation, devoting up to 20% of the production value to R&D programmes. The company invests on enabling and state-of-the-art technologies to develop innovative solutions in compliance with customers' needs. Investments are allocated to the Large Systems for Defence and Security mission (developing complex systems capable of gathering and integrating heterogeneous information and data in one technology platform) and to radar sensors and systems more and more flexible, multifunctional and multirole.
The chief fields of investment are: SW architecture, middleware, processing technologies,active array antennas, the path to generate high-efficiency power amplifiers based on gallium arsenide foundries and, in the near future, on gallium nitride, as well as photonics and nanotechnologies - a highly interesting sector.
